How to Wear the Merit Badge Sash

One of the tell tale signs of a Boy Scout is the olive green merit badge sash. The merit badge sash is worn while in uniform and only during formal events and designated activities. A scout can collect as many as 100 badges, as well as activity badges (that go on the back of the sash). While 100 badges will not fit on a standard merit sash (and the scout may have to have an additional sash), the scout can only wear one sash at a time.

Instructions

    • 1

Sew all merit badges onto the front of the sash. The merit badges can go in any order, however there are only three to a row.

    • 2

Slip the merit badge sash over the head and insert your left arm thought the hole.

    • 3

Rest the thicker portion of the sash on your right shoulder. The thinner end should hang by your hip. The first row of merit badges should line up with the pectoral muscle.
