Becoming a better fullback in position takes a lot of commitment. Improving a t the different aspects of the game will take a lot of time and determination. The fullback in football lines up in between the quarterback and the running back when the offensive team is in I-form. The fullback is responsible for blocking for the running back on most plays as well as occasionally catching a pass out of the outfield. Sometimes when the quarterback drops back to pass the fullback will stay in the backfield to block and pass protect.

Improve your footwork. Footwork is important when playing fullback. you must have fast feet and the ability to change directions instantly. Improving your footwork will also help to improve your balance as well. Jumping rope will help to make your feet faster. Jump rope with both feet for 60 seconds. Jump as many times as you can. Repeat this three times. Also, jump rope on each foot and then alternate feet. Repeat these jumps three times for 60 seconds at a time. You can execute line jumps to improve your footwork. Pick out a line on the football field and jump over it, forwards then backwards, as many times as you can in 60 seconds. Concentrate on quickly jumping the line, not how far you jump.

Work hard in the weight room. There is a lot of physical contact involved with playing fullback in football so it is important to be strong throughout your whole body. Lower body strength will help when blocking. You use your legs to drive back the rusher. Good leg exercises are squats and leg presses. Upper body strength is important when throwing a stiff arm at a defender. Good upper body exercises are the bench press and bicep curl. The best fullbacks tend to be the most physical. In order to be physical you must be stronger than your opponent.

Refine your blocking skills. When playing fullback in football you will be asked to block someone on the other team the majority of the time. Blocking skills are important because a good block could spring the running back for a big gain or could buy the quarterback a few extra seconds to throw the ball down field. Blocking can be refined with a coach after practice. Get extra repetitions in using the blocking dummies. Using the sled will also help to develop and refine blocking skills. The best way to refine your blocking skills is to practice 1-on-1 against the best pass rusher on your team. Competing against the best competition will allow you to grow and experience success.
