Next, click on "Control Panel." The following screen will show the primary features and settings of your computer such as networks, hardware, programs and audio. Go to the networks section, and open the networking sharing center.

      Create a wireless network. Navigate through the network sharing center, click on "Set up a connection or network." The following screen will show you a list of options to connect to the Internet, including the option to set up a wireless connection. Select the option that allows you to set up a wireless connection.

      Configure your wireless network. Create a network name (SSID) and a network key for a secured network. Create a strong network key with WPA encryption for optimum security. Do not create a network key if you prefer to have an unsecured network.

      Buy a wireless network card. Since an Internet wireless card is usually required to connect to wireless networks, some computers cannot connect to wireless networks. Wireless network cards are usually sold in local electronic stores. Use a laptop to connect to wireless networks. The majority of laptops come with an internal wireless card.

      Perform a test to see if your wireless network connection is working properly. Open your default Web browser, and attempt to surf the Web. If you are able to connect to the Web with no problems, your connection is successful.
