How to Store Banana Peppers
Whether you grow your own banana peppers in a home garden or you select the finest banana peppers from the produce section, keep your banana peppers fresh and tasty for as long as possible. Banana peppers, with their long and slender shape and light yellow color, resemble bananas more than peppers. Things You'll Need
- Colander
- Paper towels
- Small paper lunch bag
- Cutting board
- Paring knife
- Plastic zipper storage bags (gallon-size)
- Permanent marker

Refrigeration

Place the banana peppers in a colander and wash them lightly with cool water.

Spread several layers of paper towel on a countertop and place the banana peppers onto the paper towel. Cover the banana peppers with another double layer of paper towels and blot the peppers dry by pressing lightly on the paper towels.

Place the washed banana peppers into the paper bag. Roll the top of the bag down to seal it lightly and place the bag into the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator.

Store banana peppers for up to one week in the refrigerator.
Freezing

Wash the banana peppers and place them onto the cutting board.

Chop the banana peppers into small chunks with the paring knife. Remove the seeds as you work.

Place the chopped peppers into the freezer bag and seal the bag almost all the way. Squeeze out as much air from inside the bag as possible and close the bag completely.

Label the bag with the contents and the date and freeze the banana peppers for up to one year.
