How to Change a Pic From BMP to JPG
Short for bitmap, BMP is a common image file format. Originally developed for the Windows operating system, BMP files can now be viewed on nearly any system with a compatible viewing program. Due to their lack of compression, BMPs often have large file sizes and can be difficult to transfer between computers or display on the web. Changing an image from BMP to the more highly compressed and more widely used JPG format is a quick process, using one of several free online conversion tools.

Using Cool Utils' Online Image Converter

Open a Web browser window and navigate to the Cool Utils Online Image Converter website (see Resources).

Click "Browse," locate the BMP file you want to convert, then select it by double-clicking its icon.

Single-click "BMP" under the "Convert to" heading.

Click "Download Converted File." Save the JPG file to your computer when prompted.
Using Picture Resize's Online Image Converter

Open a Web browser window and navigate to the Picture Resize Online Image Converter website (see Resources).

Click "Choose File," locate the BMP file you want to convert, then select it by double-clicking its icon.
