Word the invitation for a second birthday to coordinate with the party theme.

A child's second birthday is a festive one for many families. As party preparations get underway, do not forget about the invitations. A birthday party with a theme often has invitations that complement the theme and give guests a hint about what the party will be like. Incorporate a whimsical feeling to your invitations, whatever the style or theme, and show invitation recipients how enjoyable the birthday gala will be.

Instructions

    • 1

Create an opening rhyme or whimsical sentence at the top of the invitation that coordinates with the party theme. For example, for a princess party with princess invitations, the opening might say, "Princess (child's name) cordially invites you to take tea to celebrate her royal second birthday." For a circus party with circus invitations, the opening might say, "No clownin' around! Join us under the big top to celebrate (child's name)'s second birthday!" The opening sentence does not have to rhyme and it does not have to be fancy---just introduce the theme to your guests in a fun way.

    • 2

Continue the invitation by adding details about the party. Skip a line or two and then write "Join us to celebrate (child's name)'s second birthday on (add the date and time)."

    • 3

Skip a line and then write the address of the location where you will hold the party.

    • 4

Skip another line and then write contact information (names of the parent(s), telephone number and email address). If you want your guests to RSVP, write "Please RSVP."

Tips & Warnings

  • Select or make invitations with graphics that go along with the party theme. Use pink, frilly princess invitations for a 2-year-old princess party. Use invitations that depict circuses or clowns with bold and bright colors for a circus party theme.
