      Contact your State Fire Marshall early in the year to find out the fee and location to apply for a fireworks retail license. Apply and pay for the retail license if your state requires one.

      Purchase, stock and sell only consumer class fireworks from licensed distributors. According to the Oklahoma State Fire Marshall, all fireworks being sold to consumers must be clearly labeled by the manufacturer as Class C, consumer fireworks. Types of Class C fireworks include sparklers, lanterns, smokers, firecrackers, and novelty spinners.

      Charge sales tax on fireworks that you sell and keep documentation of all inventory and sales on hand in the event that the local authority asks to see them.
