How to Change a SIM Card After You Unlock the iPhone

Changing the SIM card in your iPhone.

The SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card in your iPhone is a small plastic card that stores data and includes your billing information. If you have recently unlocked your iPhone, which allows you to change wireless carriers, you can remove the old SIM card and replace it with a new one.

Instructions

1. Turn off your iPhone and locate the thin rectangular SIM card door at the top of the device.

2. Insert the tip of your paperclip in the small hole on the side of the SIM card door and gently press it in until the SIM card tray pops halfway out of the iPhone.

3. Lift the old SIM card out of the tray with your fingers and insert the new one. Make sure the sides of the SIM card fit flush against the sides of the tray and the gold connector teeth on the SIM card are facing down.

4. Slide the tray gently back into the iPhone until it locks securely.
