Instructions

    • 1

Measure around your head, where you would wear the headband. Decrease the number by 1 inch to allow for stretching and so it will fit snugly. This is the length measurement for the crochet headband.

    • 2

Make a slip knot onto the crochet hook. Make nine chains.

    • 3

Work a single crochet stitch in the second chain from the crochet hook. Continue across, in each of the chains, with single crochet stitches. Make a chain, at the end, and turn your work to the other side.

    • 4

Create a single crochet in the second stitch from the crochet hook and in the rest of the stitches, across the row. Chain 1 and turn your work. Follow these steps, until the headband is the proper measurement.

    • 5

Omit the chain 1 at the end of the last row. Instead, cut the yarn approximately 8 inches from the hook. Using the hook, grab the cut yarn, and pull it through the loop on the hook. This will automatically remove the hook from your work. Pull the yarn end snugly.

    • 6

Thread a blunt end yarn needle onto the cut piece of yarn. Match the first and last rows of work together, making a loop of the crochet work. Sew the ends together with the needle. Work across the crochet stitches and then back again for added strength. Wind the last bit of yarn through the crochet stitches until the end is no longer visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the width of the crochet headband by adding or subtracting the number of beginning chains made, as desired.
