How to Tint Glass on a Car
If you are tired of blasting your car's air-conditioner to keep cool, tint your windows to cut the heat. Tint windows by applying a thin, darkened polymer film that adheres to the window like a giant sticker. Find a supplier of window tint that can precut the film based on the year and model of your car and follow the proper method of applying window tint to ensure you don't end up with any air bubbles or peeling edges. Be sure to check the laws in your area regarding window tinting before tinting your windows.

1
Wash your windows with dish soap and water. Mix 1/4 tsp. of soap with water in a quart-size spray bottle. Spray the windows liberally with the soap and water and wipe them down with a lint-free towel. An old credit card can be used to scrape away any stuck-on dirt.
-
2
Work on one window at a time for adding the tint. Roll one window down and remove the window gasket. The window gasket is the rubber trim that goes around the inside of the window frame. It snaps into place and can be pulled out simply.
-
-
3
Roll the window up and rewet it with the soapy water. The window needs to be completely wet, with no dry areas.
-
4
Remove the film from the backing to reveal the adhesive side. Start at one corner and peel it back carefully.
-
5
Spray the adhesive side of the film liberally with the soapy water.
-
6
Place the film on the window. Roll down the window just an inch or two so you can start at the top edge. Make sure the top edge of the film lines up with the top edge of the window.
-
7
Let the film lie naturally on the window while you tuck the bottom edge in where the window goes into its slot in the door.
-
8
Adjust the film as needed to even it out. At this wet stage, it is easy to slide.
-
9
Smooth the film down as much as you can with your hands.
-
10
Spray the outside of the film with the soapy water.
-
11
Use a squeegee to finish smoothing down the film and to squeeze out excess water from between the film and the window. Squeegee by working out from the middle. Remember to roll up the window that little bit so you can squeegee the bottom edge.
-
12
Roll down the window and snap the window gasket back in place.
-
13
Move on to the next window.
