Outlook Express lets you set stationery for your outgoing emails.

Outlook Express, an email application for Windows-based systems, contains an array of features for enhancing your outgoing emails including the ability to add a signature and a background, known as stationery, to your messages. The stationery is sent as an embedded background along with your email message. Outlook Express comes preloaded with stationery files you can select for your emails. You can change stationery for each email or select a specific stationery as a default for all emails.

Instructions

  1. Changing & Setting The Stationery -- For All Messages

      Open Outlook Express.

      Click "Tools," "Options." Select the "Compose" tab. Click on the check box next to "Mail."

      Click on the "Select" button. The "Select Stationery" dialog box will appear.

      Select the stationery file you want by clicking on the file's name. You will see a preview of the stationery in the box under the heading "Preview:.."

      Click "OK" to accept the selected stationery. Click "Apply," "OK" to close the "Options" dialog box.

    Changing & Setting The Stationery -- For One Message

      Open Outlook Express.

      Click "File," "New," "Mail Message."

      Click "Format," "Apply Stationary." Select the stationary you want to use.

      To see additional stationary files, click on "More Stationary." If you use the "More Stationary" option, click "OK" to accept the selected stationary file.

      Enter the message you want in the body of the email. Click "Send" to send the email.

Tips & Warnings

  • In order for stationary to be displayed within your outgoing messages, you must have the "HTML" format option selected as your "Mail Sending Format." To check if this option is selected, click "Tools," "Options." Click on the "Send" tab. Under the heading "Mail Sending Format," the circle next to the wording "HTML" should be green. If it is not selected, click on the circle then click "Apply," "OK" to select the changes.

  • If you no longer want to use stationery within your Outlook Express messages, click "Tools," "Options." Click on the "Compose" tab. Click on the check box next to "Mail" to deselect the stationary option. Click "Apply," "OK" to finalize the change.
