How to Install Nero

Installing Nero burning software

Before installing Nero you need to check your machine for other Burning software that may have previously been installed. You can check by going to Start and all programs and looking for CD burning software. If these programs aren't first uninstalled, conflicts can occur once you install Nero. If you get the PC configuration right first then you will get a smooth installation. You can purchase the program at any electronic store, or online at the Nero website.

Installing from CD

1. Uninstall any other burning program that might be on your computer. Go to Start then All Programs and select control panel. When the control panel window opens, select Add/Remove programs and locate any burning software. Click on Uninstall, and when the program finishes uninstalling, restart the computer.

2. Uninstall the Windows XP burning feature, if you have Windows XP. Go to Start, then select Control Panel and look for Administrative Tools. Select Services and then double click on the IMAPI CD Burning Service. The property windows will appear and set the startup type to Disabled.

3. Restart your computer and temporarily close any running antivirus programs by right-clicking on the anti-virus icon located on the right hand bottom side of the windows toolbar and select exit, or close.

4. Insert the Nero CD into the CD-Rom drive and start the installation. When you insert the CD the installation should start normally, but if it doesn't go to Start, then My Computer and click twice on the CD-Rom icon, so the program will start. Follow CD instructions for installation.

Download Program from Site

1. Download the 15 day trial, or purchase the product from the Nero website (see "Resources" section for link). When prompted choose to save the program.

2. Follow Steps 1 through 3 of the first section.

3. Go to the Downloads Folder located in My Documents. Click twice on the program icon and begin installation. If you have purchased the product online, enter the Serial number given to you when prompted. Otherwise select 15 day trial, and click on Finish when prompted. Your new Nero is installed.
