Tips & Warnings
Maine's government website has an option called "VitalCheck Service" on the Vital Records area of the site. This option allows you to pay with a credit card and place your order online. This makes receiving the birth certificate faster because it removes the need to mail your request and wait for a person to fill it.
Records of birth from 1922-1955 are available for viewing on microfilm in the State Archives research room.
