How to Finish a Floor with Danish Oil
When you decide to finish your wood floor, you have many different products to choose from. Danish oil is one possibility. According to Old House Journal, Danish oil is a penetrating finish that seeps right into the wood. This is in contrast to other finishes that form a noticeable "shell" on the wood, such as polyurethane. However, with Danish oil, you will be able to feel the actual floorboards when you touch them. Remove all furniture, area rugs and other objects from the wood floor surface. Clean the floor to remove dirt, dust and other debris.

Work on one section of floor at a time, moving backward toward the doorway. Use a soft brush to apply a very thin coat of Danish oil. Allow the oil to work into the wood for five minutes, according to Tried & True Wood Finishes.

Use a cloth to wipe off the excess oil. Buff the floor with another cloth. Repeat these steps until you have covered the entire floor in Danish oil. Allow the floor to sit for an entire 24 hours.

Apply a total of about two to three coats of Danish oil by repeating those steps.

Tips & Warnings
Use a soft cloth to buff your finished floor occasionally to maintain it.
