How to Change a Spark Plug Wire in a 2003 S10
When you need to change a spark plug wire in your 2003 S10, there will be a reason: cracked or damaged rubber insulation, arcing along the wire itself or just doing a major tune-up. Every 2003 Chevrolet S10 comes with specific and balanced lengths of spark plug wire, and although you certainly can change just one, it is recommended by every car and wire manufacturer that if you need to change one spark plug wire, you should change them all. Spark plug wire sets are available at any auto parts store for your 2003 S10.

1
Open the hood of your 2003 S10, and locate the wire that needs to be changed. All the wires will be found directly under the hood and alongside the engine.
-
2
Place your spark plug boot pliers on the boot of your wire where it connected to the engine. Squeeze the handles and pull the wire off firmly. You may need to twist the boot a bit to make it come off.

3
Trace the wire back to the distributor cap, then again place your boot pliers over the boot, squeeze and pull the wire off the cap, twisting if needed.
-
4
Replace the wire with a new one, in the exact way it came off. If it was originally looped over or under another plug wire, follow that same route before you reconnect it. Push it firmly onto the distributor cap first, then push it firmly onto the spark plug.

Tips & Warnings
If the wire had been routed through a plastic guide, replace it exactly as it came out.
To facilitate easier removal for the next time, coat the inside boot that connects to the spark plug with a dab of silicone grease before you push it into place.
