How to Convert WMV to VCD & DVD
WMV (Windows Media Video) is a compressed file made for use with Windows Media Player, although it is also compatible with other media players, such as Bitberry and Apple's Quicktime. Though WMV is not the standard file format used for either VCD (video compact disc) or DVD (digital video disc), you can burn WMV to a VCD or a DVD by converting the file to the appropriate type for your chosen disc format.
Instructions

WMV to VCD
-
1
Convert the WMV file to an MPEG file using an online converter. Online converters that can convert WMV to MPEG include Media Converter, YouConvertIt and Zamzar (see Resources). To convert with the online system, use the "Browse" button to upload the WMV video, select "MPEG" as the output format and click "Convert" to convert between the file types. Download the converted file from the provided link.
-
2
Insert a blank CD in the drive of your computer. If you are burning a WMV file longer than 74 minutes, make sure you have more than one CD available. The burning program automatically prompts you to insert a new disc during the writing process if the first one becomes full.
-
-
3
Launch a VCD-writing program. Most DVD-writing programs, like Nero, Cyberlink PowerProducer and Roxio, can write VCDs. If you do not have a VCD-writing program on your computer, there are many options available for download from the CNET website.
-
4
Click the "Add Video" or "Upload Media" button in the disc-writing program. Go to the folder on your hard drive where you downloaded the MPEG file and double-click the file.
-
5
Press the "Continue" or "Next" buttons through the rest of the VCD-writing wizard. Press the "Write" or "Burn" button on the last page to burn the VCD.

Download and install a free ISO-building application if your DVD-writing program cannot burn WMV files. Free ISO-builders available for download on the Web include Free ISO Create Wizard and ImgBurn (see Resources).
-
8
Launch the ISO-building application on your computer. Click the "Add Files" or "Upload" button to upload the WMV files that you want to burn to DVD into the ISO-builder.
-
9
Press the "Build" or "Create" button. Choose the folder on your hard drive where you would like the ISO to save and enter a name for the ISO in the window that comes up. Press "Save."
-
10
Insert a blank DVD and open your DVD-writing software. Upload the ISO file into the program, continue to the final screen and press the "Burn" or "Write" button to write the ISO image file to disc.
