How to Tie a Bumper Pad for a Crib
A bumper pad--a padded cushion of material-- is a common element in preparing a baby's crib. You can purchase a pad with or separately from your other bed linens in a variety of different fabrics (mesh, cloth, organic). The bumper pad fits tightly inside your baby's crib by tying it securely to the the railings of the crib.

Tips & Warnings
When tying the bumper pad to the crib, make sure that it fits snugly around the entire crib. Also, the crib ties should be from 7 to 9 inches in length.
If you don't properly secure the bumper pad, it may become a hazard for your child. According to a study conducted by the Journal of Pediatrics in September 2007, crib bumper pads and their ties have attributed to suffocation or strangulation. Read the instructions and warnings that accompany your crib bumper pad before installation.
