1
Download a template from the website in the Resources section. Print it out and cut out the pieces. Cut two 27-inch by 27-inch squares of fabric. Fold one in half diagonally, with the right side of the fabric out. Place the front tie piece of the template along the diagonal side of the fabric. Pin in place then cut out the piece.
-
2
Fold the second 27-inch by 27-inch square of fabric in half diagonally and pin the back of the tie template along the diagonal. Cut out and set aside, right side out.

3
Cut a 9-inch by 9-inch square of muslin and fold in half diagonally. Pin the front and back of tie lining template along the folded edge. Pin in place and cut out. Cut the front and back tie interface pieces out of muslin as well using the template pieces as your guide.
-
4
Lay the front lining out on a flat surface. Fold the tip up 1/4-inch and press down. Fold the side edges in 1/4-inch as well and press down. Repeat with the back lining, the front of the tie and the back of the tie pieces.
-
5
Place the front side of the lining on the front side of the tie, wrong sides of the fabric touching each other. Pin in place and then sew using a slip stitch. Repeat for the back sides of the lining.
-
6
Lay the front tie piece flat, place the square end of the back tie piece over the front tie piece's square end so they are perpendicular. With a fabric pencil draw a diagonal line across the intersection from right to left so you split the square in half. Sew along the line then cut off the excess fabric that remains to the right of the line you drew. Make sure it is a tight seam. Repeat this entire step with the interfacing pieces.
-
7
Press the seam open. Fold in the long edges of the tie 1/4 inch. Fold in 1/4 inch once more. Fold both sides in so they meet in the center. Press down the sides to create creases then unfold. Place the interfacing tie (the section made with the interfacing pieces) inside the flaps. Refold the edges inward.
-
8
Pin the seams together. Hand sew the edges together using a simple stitch all the way up. Tie off and cut off the excess on the ends.
