How to Install Yahoo Audible

Install audibles in Yahoo Messenger.

People use Yahoo! Audibles with Yahoo! Messenger to hear selected sounds when sending and receiving instant messages. Enable audibles in Yahoo! Messenger if you are not hearing any sounds when you send or receive instant messages. There are additional audibles, other than the ones that come pre-installed with Yahoo! Messenger, that you can download and install. Audibles are easy to install. You just need to know where to go to find them and then add them to your Yahoo! Messenger.

Instructions

1. Find, create or download audibles for Yahoo! Messenger. You can use .wav files as audibles or visit to the Yahoo! site for new audibles. Yahoo! usually distributes new audible files around holidays.

2. Copy the audibles (.wav files) to the "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Media" folder on your computer. If you downloaded the files as compressed (zipped) files, unzip them before copying them into the media folder.

3. Open Yahoo! Messenger and enable "Audibles." Click on "Messenger" > "Preferences." Click on the "Messages" category when the "Messenger Preferences" window opens. Click on "Enable Audibles" in the "Miscellaneous" category and then click "OK" to close out the "Messenger Preferences" window.

4. Add the new .wav files you copied into the media folder to the audibles list in Yahoo! Messenger. Click on the "More Audibles" button that sits on the right side on the main Messenger window. Click on "See All Audibles." Click on "Add New" and choose the .wav files from the list to add to the audibles list. Click "OK" to finish and close the window. Your audibles are now ready to be used.
