How to Make a Movie Using a Webcam

Make a movie with your webcam.

Although webcams are not as portable as a standard video camera, nor do the cameras have built-in memory, you can still create a video with the digital webcam. The video is imported directly to a connected computer and saved with the software used by the webcam (this program comes with the webcam upon purchase). The video quality is not going to be as high, but it is possible to record and capture your own video.

Instructions

1. Connect the USB data cable running out of the webcam into one of the USB ports on your computer. However, if you have a built-in webcam on the monitor of your computer, you do not need to perform any hardware connections.

2. Launch the webcam software you have installed on the computer. If the webcam is installed on your monitor, the programming is already on your computer. If you need to attach the webcam through a USB data cable, then the software came provided on a CD.

3. Position the webcam to face the content or people you want to record.

4. Click the "Record" button in the webcam software and the computer begins to capture the video. Click "Record" again to stop it. Once done, select the "Save" option. When the save window appears, title the video and select a location for the video. Click "OK" and the video file is saved onto your computer.
