A base oil, or carrier oil, allows for the mixing of essential oils and other additives in soap and cosmetic crafting. Derived from animal fat or 100 percent vegetable materials, base oils vary in consistency, color, smell and texture depending on a number of factors. Things You'll Need

  • Base oil (8 oz.)
  • Secondary base oil (5 oz.)
  • Essential oil ( 1 oz.)
  • Plastic bottle (20 oz.)

Instructions

    • 1

      Select two base or carrier oils. Such oils include grape seed oil, coconut oil, hemp seed oil, pomegranate oil and many more. Select two of your favorite kind.

      Select one or two essential oils of your choice. Lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree oil and lemon balm essential oils, as well as others, are strong essential oils that dilute well in base oil.

      Add the two base oils to the plastic bottle.

      Add the essential oils to the bottle.

      Cap the bottle and shake it vigorously to thoroughly mix the contents.
