Using girly hair clips will make you look too young (and not in the good way).

Many women like to wear hair clips in their hair to help to keep hair in place and out of their eyes. Although most women might not want to wear "cutesy" hair ribbons with bows, you can wear colored hair bows to add a little "something" to your do. Instead of purchasing cute hair clips and cutting off the frills, make your own. This way, you can make the hair clip exactly how you want it (and can coordinate the hair clip with your various outfits). Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Alligator hair clip
  • 4 1/2-inch piece of ribbon
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

    • 1

      Apply a thin line of glue onto one end of the ribbon. Make the line of glue slightly shorter than the length of the clip. Open the clip, put the ribbon all the way into the clip until it touches the back, and press the ribbon to the top prong of the inside of the alligator clip.

      Close the clip and turn it over. Apply a thin strip glue along the outside of the clip. Press fold the ribbon up over the glue. Press down on the ribbon to adhere to the glue.

      Apply two tiny dots of glue to the inside of the clip's pinch prongs (where you press down to open the clip). Fold the ribbon slightly inside the pinch prongs (to make a "v"). Press the ribbon down onto each dot of glue to adhere the ribbon to the prongs.

      Apply a thin strip of glue to the underside of the ribbon (only about a 1/4 inch of ribbon will remain). Fold the ribbon over, and press it down to adhere the ribbon to the underside of the clip.

      Allow 12 hours to ensure the glue is completely dry.
