How to Use a Garmin Etrex Venture GPS
Whether you are driving, hiking, boating or traveling in general, a global positioning device (GPS) is a handy tool. The Garmin Etrex Venture is a hand-held GPS device. Like other GPS devices, the Etrex Venture uses satellite data to display a location. With the Venture GPS, a user can enter coordinates into the device and travel to and from that location by viewing the information on the screen. In addition, the device displays a traveler's average speed, total distance traveled and elevation.

Travel to the waypoint by moving (walking, driving, etc.) towards its location. Notice the dark arrow on the map screen: the tip of the arrow indicates your current position. If you turn left or right, the arrow moves. Move toward the waypoint; the GPS will mark your journey on the map screen.
