How to Upgrade to Wireless Internet
If you want to upgrade your broadband speed Internet connection to a wireless Internet connection, you're going to need to purchase something called a wireless router from an electronics store. This router will receive Internet signals from your modem and broadcast them out into your home or office. Any wireless compatible computer will then be able to connect to this wireless Internet network, no matter where it actually happens to be.

1
Pick a computer that you'd like to be the "main" computer on your network. It helps if this is a desktop computer or a computer that doesn't change locations, as your wireless router is going to need to stay connected to this machine in order for it to work.
-
2
Connect your wireless router to your Internet modem with an Ethernet cable. You can use the Ethernet cable that was previously connected directly to your computer.
-
-
3
Connect your wireless router to the main computer in your network via an additional Ethernet cable.
-
4
Turn on the main computer in your network.
-
5
Use the wireless router CD-ROM to install the appropriate software onto this main computer. This software is required to run the router and maintain the network. During the software setup process you will provide a name for your network (which will in turn be used by all of the other computers to connect to the wireless Internet network). You will also have the option of setting up a password for your network, allowing you to control exactly who can gain access and who can't. Once this setup process is complete you will have successfully upgraded your home to a wireless Internet connection.
