Instructions

    • 1

Close the toilet seat. Locate the two flat caps on the back of the seat sitting against the toilet rim.

    • 2

Pry open one of the caps by putting your flathead screwdriver into the slot at the base of the cap and pushing it upward. It should open like a small trap door, exposing wide metal or plastic screw heads of the mounting screws.

    • 3

Make sure that the toilet seat is properly centered on the rim. Set the flathead screwdriver tip against the top of the screws. Reach under the rim and find the bolt that's around the screw on the bottom (it's usually made of plastic).

    • 4

Tighten the screw by turning it clockwise with the screwdriver while holding the bolt steady underneath so that it does not spin. Get the screw snug, but do not over tighten it.

    • 5

Repeat the process with the other screw. Try to wiggle the seat to confirm that it is sufficiently tight. Close the caps.
