  • Razor blade
  • Pot
  • Water
  • Stove
  • Broom
  • Rags
  • Turpentine

      Scrape as much glue off of the floor as you can with a razor blade. Work in small sections, and do not push down too hard on the blade; you could cut yourself or damage the floor.

      Fill a pot with water and boil the water on the stove. Pour the boiling water directly onto a small area of the subfloor, and then allow the water to soak into the glue.

      Scrape up the glue with the razor blade. Continue to pour more boiling water on other small sections of the subflooring and scrape until the glue is completely removed.

      Sweep the floor with a broom to remove any glue residue. Mop up the residue with rags dampened with turpentine.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can heat the glue with a hairdryer instead of pouring boiling water on the glue.
