In Colorado, DBAs are known as trade names. Business owners may register their trade names online via the Colorado Secretary of State's Business Division's website. Trade name registration costs $20 per name.

      Visit the Colorado Secretary of State's Business Division website. Click on "File a business document" under the "Online Services" section. Then click on "Trade Name" under "Register a."       Select which type of entity you wish to file a trade name for. Trade name filings are most often done for sole proprietorships and general partnerships.

      Fill out the form. You will need to include your name, address, your business' address, your desired trade name and a brief description of the kind of work your business conducts.
