How to Get Free W2 Forms
W2 forms are tax forms that employers send out to employees to report the wages the employee earned and the amount of taxes the employer withheld. While sample W2 forms are available on the IRS website, companies cannot just print and send those samples; they must use original, scannable W2 forms. There are several ways to get free W2 forms.

Call the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676). Request as many W2 forms as you like, up to the maximum of 1,000, for the most recent tax year and for the current tax year (for example, in 2010, you can request W2 forms for 2009 and 2010).

Order the forms online through the IRS website. From the home page, click on the "Business" tab at the top, then under "IRS Resources" at the right, click "Forms and Publications." In the page that opens, under "Order," click "Employer forms and instructions." Fill in the quantity you need, click "Add to Cart" and then check out by entering your name and mailing information. Again, you are limited to 1,000 forms.

File electronically for free. You can do so at the Social Security Administration website, and when you fill out the W2 forms online, copies are generated that you can print to send to employees and for your records.
