How to Get Your House Listed in MLS
The Multiple Listing Service, more frequently known as the MLS, is regulated by the National Association of Realtors. The service lists real property available for sale throughout the United States. The listing service can only be accessed by licensed realtors and is accessible to other realtors and their clients who are actively searching for property to purchase. So getting your property listed on the MLS will increase your chances of receiving an offer.

1
Contact a licensed realtor who sells property in the area where the home is located. You can locate realtors in the phonebook, on line, or even by looking up properties in your zip code at Realtor.com. Once results are listed in that zip code on Realtor, you can click on each listing and see what realtors are representing properties for sale.

2
Locate a discount broker. This is an alternative to a traditional realtor. A discount broker will list your property on the MLS for a flat fee or small percentage fee, but you as the seller is not directly represented by the realtor. This fee is exclusive of the fee that will have to be paid to the selling broker. Since the realtor receives no commission from the sale of your property, there is less incentive to show your property to clients. You may also have to process the sales paperwork yourself. Some discount realtors may assist you with finalizing the sales for an extra fee.

3
Sign a Sales Contract with a traditional or discount broker. Shortly after the contract is signed, your property will be listed on the MLS.
