How to Make Dollar Bill Jewelry

How to Make Dollar Bill Jewelry thumbnail
You can fold a dollar bill into a ring that can be worn.

Using a common dollar bill, you can make jewelry you can actually wear. A fairly crisp dollar bill is ideal for making the jewelry. You can use a more worn bill, just the folds and worn spots in the bill will make it harder for the bill to keep its new shape. The ring you make out of a dollar bill can either be worn on your finger as a ring or it can be strung onto string, a chain or a leather cord and worn as a necklace pendant.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the dollar bill so the back side is facing toward you. The writing should be right side up. Fold the bottom white edge so that is it underneath the dollar bill.

    • 2

Turn the dollar bill so the front is facing toward you and George Washington is right side up. Fold the dollar bill in half lengthwise, making sure to not fold the top edge of the bill, all the way to the bottom folded edge of the bill.

    • 3

Fold the bill in half lengthwise once more. The words "One Dollar" with the one symbol on each corner should be facing up toward you. Fold the left side of the bill up, so that it makes a triangular point at the bottom. The "O" and "N" should be covered up so the part of the bill that is showing reads "E Dollar."

    • 4

Fold the long side of the bill over the shorter side that is pointing up. Turn the bill so the word "Dollar" is upside down. Place your finger over the part of the bill that is pointing toward you and pick the bill up in this position on your finger. Wrap the part of the bill that is not under your finger around your finger until both ends of the bill are about the same length. Fold the part of the bill that is under your finger up, making a crease at the edge of the other part of the bill. If you turn your finger over, you will see the word "One."

Remove the bill from your finger and find the flap that is inside the ring portion of the dollar bill. Fold the part of the bill that was under your finger into the flap. Turn the ring so the loose flap is at the top of the ring. Fold the white border on this flap toward you, then fold the flap one more time in the same direction. The words "One Dollar" should be facing up.

Tuck the white border from the flap into the nearest pocket underneath where "One Dollar" is visible. The ring is now ready to wear with the "One Dollar" lettering on the top of the ring.
