Thanks to Sony's decision to include built-in Wi-Fi on every model of the PlayStation 3 home entertainment system, you can quickly and easily connect your console to your home's wireless Internet connection in a matter of minutes without any extra purchases or downloads. All you need is wireless Internet access and about five minutes of your time to set up the connection. Then you can use the wireless Internet for your PlayStation 3.

      Power on your PlayStation 3 and PS3 controller.

      Select your user account and choose to log in. This takes you to the PlayStation 3's main menu.

      Move right or left using the controller until you reach the "Settings" column. Then press down. At the bottom of the column, press "X" to open the "Network Settings" menu.

      Make sure the "Internet connection" option is set to "Enabled." If it isn't, highlight it, press the "X" button, and switch it.

      Go down to highlight "Internet Connection Settings" and press "X" on the controller. Choose "Yes," because you want to configure your Internet settings.

      Highlight "Easy" and press the "X" button. Then select "Wireless" and press "X" again.

      Select "Scan" and your PlayStation 3 will scan the area for wireless networks within range of the console. When finished, a list of nearby networks will appear. Highlight your network and press the "X" button to select it. Then press "right" on the controller to confirm the selection.

      Choose your wireless network security. If no security is enabled, select "None." If there is any network security, talk to the person in charge of your Internet connection to get the security type and password before proceeding. When you have the password, select the security type and enter it using your controller and the on-screen keypad.

      Confirm the settings by pressing "X" on the controller. Then choose "Test Connection." If everything went well, you'll get a message on screen saying so. You can now log into your PlayStation Network account by going to the "Network" or "Friends" icon and choosing to "Sign in..."
