How to Change Desktop Icon Fonts
At times, you may want a change of pace in terms of how you desktop icons appear. You can easily alter the way they look in terms of their fonts, with a few clicks of your mouse. It is highly recommended that when you alter basic settings on your computer, you close all applications and programs.

Windows XP

Right-click on an empty spot on your desktop.

Scroll down and click "Properties."

Hit the "Appearance" tab and then hit the "Advanced" button.

Choose "Icon" in the drop-down menu under the heading "Item." Select a new font with the drop-down menu below it. Change the size of the font with the "Size" drop-down menu.

Hit the "OK" button.
Windows Vista

Right-click on an empty spot on your desktop.

Scroll down and click "Personalize."

Click the "Open classic appearance properties for more color options" link in the window that appears.

Hit the "Advanced" button.

Hit the "Windows Color" icon at the bottom of the window that appears.
