How to Create a Business Logo in Photoshop
Whether a business is a large corporation or a small start-up, it should have its own logo. A logo serves as a quick way for a customer to identify the business and its products or services. People easily notice a trademark shape and set of colors than they will a sign with text. The creation of a logo is often left to highly paid professionals, but if you would like to avoid the cost and hassle of hiring someone to create your logo, there is no reason you should not do it yourself using Photoshop.

Sketch your ideas for the logo in a notebook. Decide if you want it to be a graphic only or a graphic with text. Also decide if you would like to add an image.

Load any images or graphics you would like to incorporate into your logo onto your computer by transferring them from a digital source or scanning them in. If you use a scanner, set the resolution fairly high (600dpi) to insure a quality image.

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and click "New." In the dialog box, name your document. Change the "Background Type" to "Transparent." Set the height and width to what you want for your logo. If you expect that you might print the logo, make the resolution 300; otherwise, leave it at 72. Click "OK."

Select the "Pen" tool from the toolbar. In the tool options, set it to "Shape." Use it to draw the outer shape of your logo design. Change the tool to "Subtract" and use it to remove any sections you do not want.

Select "File" and click "Open." In the dialog box, find the image that you loaded and open it.

Select the "Polygonal" tool and use it to select the part of the image you want to use. Choose "Edit" from the menu and click "Copy." Go back to the other document, select "Edit" and click "Paste." Place the image where you want in the design using the "Move" and "Scale" functions.

Select the "Text" tool from the toolbar. In the options, choose the font size, color and style that you want and type in your text. Select "File" and click "Save." Name your file and save it as a JPEG.
