How to Add a Photo to Baptism Invitations

How to Add a Photo to Baptism Invitations thumbnail
A photo with an invitation can be a great means of introduction.

Baptism is a time to welcome a new member into the religious community. Since most baptisms involve infants, it is also the first opportunity many family members and close friends get to see the baby. Adding a photo to a baptism invitation is a great way to introduce someone into the family, and the beginning of a bond that will last a lifetime. You can do this using actual photographs or scanned images from your own printer.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a photo of the person who is going to be baptized. If you are planning a formal event and have formal invitations, try to find a photo in which the subject is dressed for a special occasion.

    • 2

Purchase invitations. Some invitations come with photo holders, so adding a photo to these is a matter of sliding the photo carefully into the frame of the holder. If you have invitations without a built-in photo holder, use a glue stick to lightly paste a photo onto the front or inside flap of a card invitation. Put tiny dabs of glue on the back of the photo, just in the corners so the photo can be removed easily by the receiver and later inserted into a frame or scrapbook.

Scan your photo using a flatbed scanner if you are printing your own invitations. Move the image onto the layout of your invitation, placing it either on the cover or the inside flap of a card invitation. Size the image so it will fit before saving and printing the invitations.

Tips & Warnings

  • Baptism wording suggestions can be found in the Resources.

  • Never write on the back of a photo with a pen or sharp pencil. Print labels with the name of the subject on them and the date of the photo and stick these to the backs of photos to protect the photograph from damage. If you don't have a printer, write lightly on the back of the photograph with a permanent felt-tip marker.
