Disabling compression on a 56K modem can improve speed.

Those who use dial-up services to connect to the Internet likely have a 56K modem. While these modems are used less now than earlier thanks to the availability of faster Internet connections, there are still many people who use 56K modems to connect to the Internet. While 56k modems will not work as quickly as cable or DSL modems, you can disable the compression on a 56k modem to improve its performance and make it run a little faster.
