How to Send Text From Email in Alltel

Send free text messages via email to your Alltel recipients.

An SMS gateway allows you to send free text messages to your Alltel contacts via email. However, to do so, you must know the SMS gateway address. Most, if not all, cell phone providers use a unique email address as their SMS gateways. Text messages sent through an SMS gateway must adhere to the standard character limit. This limit is typically 160 characters. If your SMS exceeds this requirement, the SMS gateway may not deliver the message.

Instructions

1. Visit your email provider's homepage, sign in to your account and then select "Compose." If you use an email client program, such as Microsoft Outlook, open the application and then choose "Compose."

2. Type your recipient's 10-digit phone number, followed by "@message.alltel.com" in the "To" field. For example, if the recipient's number is 234-987-6909, type "[e-mail]" in the "To" field.

3. Send the text message via email by selecting "Send."
