Instructions

    • 1

Hold your arms straight out and ask a friend to measure the length from right beneath your armpit to the floor. Then measure the width of your body from beneath your armpits. Double this number because you want the toga to wrap around your body twice. Add a few extra inches to this number just to leave room for errors, and for clothing you want to wear beneath.

    • 2

Cut a piece of fabric; you can buy fabric from a craft store in white or a different color. Even though most representations of togas are white, you can get a brighter color such as purple, blue or gold to represent the upper class of ancient Rome.

    • 3

Put on a t-shirt and shorts in case you have a wardrobe malfunction later in the evening. Center the fabric over the front of your body and wrap it around to your back. Cross the top two corners of the fabric and wrap them around to the front again. Be sure to keep the fabric below your armpits so your arms are free.

    • 4

Cross the corners at your chest and tie them into a halter around your neck. Wrap a gold cord around your waist and wear a roman leaf crown on top of your head. To make a roman leaf crown, paint fake leaves gold and glue them to a piece of gold wire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cut your toga about your knees for a sexy costume. Adorn your arms with several heavy gold bracelets.
