A few legitimate sites do exist, with the most popular being myxer.com. This site allows you to search for a ring tone and send it directly to your Nextel cell phone for free.

1. Go to myxer.com in your computer's web browser.

2. Enter the name of the artist or song you want to use as a ring tone in the top right "Search" box. Click "Search."

3. Click on the individual listings returned in the search. Preview each ring tone by clicking on the "Play" button located to the right of the picture on the ring tone's individual page.

4. Compose a new text message on your Nextel phone to 69937 (MYXER).

5. Locate the text code on the individual ring tone that you would like to download's page. It is located under the "Details" header, to the right of "Text Code" and has quotation marks surrounding it.

6. Enter this code in the body of the text message on your Nextel phone. Press send. In a few moments myxer.com will send a reply to your text with the download link.

7. Click on the link and follow the instructions specific to your model Nextel cell phone to install the ring tone.
