How to Connect Color Codes on Labtec Speakers With Subwoofer

How to Connect Color Codes on Labtec Speakers With Subwoofer thumbnail
Follow the color codes to connect Labtec speakers to a subwoofer.

Labtec manufactures computer speaker systems for stereo and surround-sound applications. Each speaker in the system is equipped with an audio cable terminating in a color-coded plug for direct connection to the Labtec subwoofer, which provides the power for the speaker package. Setup is simply a matter of matching the plug color to each jack color for connections that should take less than five minutes. All required materials come with the Labtec speakers.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the stereo speakers on the left and right of the computer monitor with the subwoofer on or below the desk. If setting up surround sound, place the center channel above or below the monitor and the two rear speakers behind the main seating area.

    • 2

Uncoil the cables attached to the left and right speakers, then insert the plug on the end of each cable to the labeled jacks on the back of the subwoofer. The black plug on the left speaker cable connects to the black jack on the sub. The red plug on the right speaker connects to the red jack on the sub. Connect the blue, green and white plugs on the other three speakers to the matching color jacks on the subwoofer if hooking up surround sound.

    • 3

Connect the plug on the subwoofer cable to the "Line Out" jack on the back of the computer tower or use the headphone jack on a laptop.

    • 4

Plug in the subwoofer power cord to a wall outlet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Connect the speaker cables to the sub before plugging in the electricity.
