How to Replace a CMOS Battery for a Fuji Notebook

When your Fujitsu Lifebook notebook is turned off, certain internal settings, like the date and time setting, are powered by a small circular battery called a CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) battery. So if the date and time display on your Fujitsu Lifebook is constantly resetting every time you turn on your computer, chances are the CMOS battery is dead. If you don't want to take your notebook to a service technician you can open it up and replace the CMOS battery yourself.

Turn off your Fujitsu laptop and unplug the power cable. Then remove the rectangular battery from the bottom of the device.

Pry the long plastic frame just above the keyboard up with your fingers and gently pull it off of the computer.

Lift the keyboard up from the top and use your fingers to unplug the single connector ribbon from where it connects at the back of the keyboard. Then set the keyboard aside. A large metal plate will now be visible where the keyboard used to sit. in the middle of this plate is an opening where you will be able to see the rectangular memory board.

Pull the metal tabs on either end of the green memory board outward until it pops up. Remove the board from the computer and set it aside.

Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on each corner of the metal plate. Lift the metal plate off the computer and set it aside. The green motherboard will now be visible in the computer.

Locate the circular CMOS battery in the upper-right corner of the motherboard. Lift it out of its compartment and unplug it from the connector cable.

Replace with the new CMOS battery and attach the cable to the battery. Then reassemble your Fujitsu laptop in the reverse order you took it apart.
