Having a faster Web browser will also mean not only that you can download files much faster, but also you can pull up Web pages faster too. Inside Firefox is a multitude of options available to you. By understanding these, you will unlock faster downloads and rendering speeds.

Things You'll Need

  • Firefox Version 3 and up

Adjusting the Config File

  • Start up Firefox.

  • Type "about:config" in the address bar. Hit Enter.

  • Click on the "I'll be careful, I promise" button.

  • Type "network.http.pipelining" in the filter bar. Press Enter. Double-click the line to set the value to "True."

  • Type "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" in the filter bar. Press Enter. Double click this line and set the value of this to "8."

  • Type "network.http.proxy.pipelining" in the filter bar. Press Enter. Double-click the line to set the value to "True."

  • Type "network.dns.disableIPv6" in the filter bar. Press Enter. Double-click the line to set the value to "True."

  • Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select "New" then "Boolean."

  • Type "content.interrupt.parsing" in the box provided and click "OK." Choose "True" for the newly entered value.

  • Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select "New" then "Integer."

  • Type "content.max.tokenizing.time" in the select box and click "OK." Type "2000000" in the select box and click "OK."

  • Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select "New" then "Integer."

  • Type "content.notify.interval" in the box provided and click "OK." Type "750000" in the select box and click "OK."

  • Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select "New" then "Boolean."

  • Type "content.notify.ontimer" in the box provided and click "OK." Choose "True" for the newly entered value and click "OK."

  • Type "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" in the box provided and click "OK." Type "0" in the select box and click "OK."
