How to Remove Mildew Stains From White Exterior Brick

Keep your exterior white brick mildew-free.

A brick exterior adds attractiveness and value to any structure. It is durable and can hold up to the elements. To keep a brick exterior looking its best, a yearly cleaning is in order. Removing mildew and and dirt from exterior brick surfaces is a simple task and a good weekend project.

Things You'll Need

• Garden hose
• Large bucket
• Bleach
• Water
• Synthetic-bristle scrub brush

Instructions

1. Spray the brick with a garden hose to loosen dirt and grime.The surface should be thoroughly soaked with water before applying the cleaning solution.

2. Mix a solution of 1 cup of bleach with a gallon of water in a large bucket.

3. Apply the cleaning solution to the mildewed area, using a synthetic-bristle brush. Do not use a wire brush as it may cause discoloration or rust stains.

4. Rinse the white brick with a garden hose. Make sure all the cleaning solution is removed as you do not want bleach residue soaking into the brick.
