Instructions

    • 1

Test the current pool water with a pH test kit. Add the necessary chemicals to ensure the water is balanced. Do not install a pool heater unless the water is balanced, as it will cause the heater to work improperly.

    • 2

Disconnect power to the pool pump. Clean the pool filter and skimmer of any large debris; this will prevent the pool heater from becoming clogged.

    • 3

Create a level spot to place the pool heater using paving stones and a level. Choose a spot about three feet away from the pool filter.

    • 4

Attach the pool filter return valve to the inlet valve on the pool heater using a piece of PVC pipe. If needed, cut the PVC pipe to fit the area using a cutting blade or small saw. Connect the return jet valve on the sidewall of the pool to the pool heater's outlet valve using another piece of PVC pipe.

    • 5

Set the pool heater to the desired temperature using the installed thermostat located on the top of the pool heater. Restore power to the pool pump and allow the pool water to cycle through the system. If any leaks are found, turn the system off and apply PVC joint compound to seal the leaky spots.
