How to Use a Plastic Nut Basin Wrench
The plumbing components connecting to the sinks of your home are held in place with plastic nuts. These present maintenance challenges, as the nuts are behind the basin of the sink and are not accessible with standard plumbing tools such as a pipe wrench. To reach them, you need a specialized cylindrical tool known as a plastic nut basin wrench. The tool slips over the nut, and the notches around the perimeter of the wrench fit over the tabs of the nut. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Disconnect the water supply lines running from the supply valves of your house to the plumbing fixture containing the plastic nuts. Use the pipe wrench. The connections will be near the bottom of the cabinet housing the plumbing fixture.
-
2
Hold the disconnected supply line in one hand while you reach behind the basin with the other hand.
-
-
3
Turn the nut holding the supply line to the bottom of the plumbing fixture counter-clockwise with your free hand. If the nut does not move, turn the supply hose while you attempt to remove the supply line nut. The added force of the supply line should break the nut free.
-
4
Set the disconnected supply line aside and repeat the procedure to remove the second supply line from the plumbing fixture (if applicable).
-
5
Slide the plastic nut basin wrench over the disconnected supply connection. Twist the plastic nut basin wrench slightly as you push it over the plastic nut to seat it over the nut.
-
6
Turn the plastic nut basin wrench counterclockwise to remove the plastic nut from the plumbing fixture.
