How to Stop an Automatic Renewal of My Domain Name

Stop automatic renewal of your domain name.

Automatic renewal is a service provided to domain owners so that they don't have to worry about their domain expiring. You can register a domain for one or two years at a time. When the times comes for your domain to renew, the register will charge your credit card or checking account for the domain to renew for another year or two. Avoid this by changing your account settings before it is time for your domain to renew.

Instructions

1. Sign in to the control panel for your domain account. This sign-in details were provided to you when you first registered the domain.

2. Go to the "Account Management" section. If you have several domains registered, click on the domain you want to change.

3. Look for the "Renew/Cancel" link or menu item. If you can't find it, look for an "Actions" drop-down list next to the domain. Click on the link.

4. Deselect the option to "Automatically renew domains" or "Renew my registration." Click on "OK" or "Submit" to save the changes. Wait for verification that the automatic renewal have been turned off.
