How to Use a PC as a Second Monitor to a Mac
When using a Mac computer, you may want to use a second monitor. This is typically used when running a MacBook laptop and you want a larger screen to display your work or run your video games. Mac monitors are typically more expensive than a standard PC monitor, so you may opt to connect the Mac computer to a PC-based computer monitor.

Look to see if you have a VGA or DVI connection port on your Mac computer. This is where you connect the computer to a monitor. A VGA connection port has three rows of pin connections and is roughly an inch long, while a DVI connection has square connectors with a cross-shaped port to the side. Look at the monitor to make sure it has the same connection port.

Plug either the DVI or VGA cable into the appropriate port on the Mac computer, then plug the opposite end of the cable into the DVI or VGA port on the back of the monitor.

Power on the monitor and you should see the Mac computer on the monitor. If not, select "System Preferences" on the task bar, click "Arrange" and select what monitor you want to display on the left or right. This means if you select the Mac monitor for the left position and the PC monitor as the right, you can move your mouse from left to right and it automatically moves onto the second screen. This essentially gives you twice the viewing area without purchasing a larger screen.
