How to Change the Password & Username in Orkut
Orkut is a social networking website developed and maintained by Google since 2004. The majority of orkut's members are from Brazil and India indicating its vast popularity in those regions. Like Facebook, MySpace, and other popular online communities, orkut has all the features of a social networking website; members can create profiles, upload photographs and videos, search for and add friends, and exchange messages with other members (see Resources for more on orkut's features). As with any website, the need to change your orkut account information such as your password or username may arise due to security or personal reasons.

Log into your orkut account through your Google account if you have one (Google and orkut accounts share the same username and password). If you don't have a Google account, sign in through the orkut account log in page (see Resources for link).

Locate the section "Personal Settings" and the "Edit" link next to it.
If you don't have a Google account and you logged in directly through your orkut account, you can access the same page to edit your information by clicking on "Settings" located on the left side of your orkut profile. Click on "Google Account Settings" under the "General" tab; now you will be able to see the section, "Personal Settings" and the "Edit" option next to it.

Click on the "Edit" link. This will allow you to change your username (email address), personal name, nickname, home country, and time zone. Remember to click "Save" to ensure that your username and other information is updated.

Navigate back to the page with "Personal Settings." Locate and click on the "Change Password" link to change your orkut password. Remember to click "Save" to ensure your password is updated.

Log out of your account once you finish changing your account information for security purposes.

Tips & Warnings
Keep your account information private. Do not share your username and password with anyone.
Always create a strong password (see Resources for tips on how to do this) and change your password frequently.
If you use your Gmail account as your orkut username/email address, you won't see an option to change your username. The option to change your orkut username is only available to those who have a registered e-mail with a carrier other than Gmail such as Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.
If you are using a Gmail/Google account, changing your orkut password will also change your Gmail/Google account password.
