Discovering a pen in a clothes dryer can be a frustrating experience. It is common to accidentally forget to empty out the pockets of clothes before doing laundry, only to find pen marks on the clothes and inside the dryer. Not only will you need to remove the ink stains on the clothes, but on the inside of the dryer as well. Fortunately, pen marks can be removed from metal without much difficulty. However, the longer you wait to treat the marks, the more difficult they will be to remove. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • All-purpose cleaner
  • 2 cloths
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Liquid detergent
  • 2 rags
  • Water
  • Dry cloth

Instructions

      Spray all-purpose cleaner onto a cloth, and then rub the cloth on the pen marks.

      Dampen another cloth with rubbing alcohol, if the pen marks will not come off. Firmly scrub the pen marks with the cloth until the marks disappear. You may need to apply more rubbing alcohol to the cloth.

      Dab some liquid detergent onto a rag, and wet the rag with water. Wash out the inside of the dryer with the rag, focusing especially on areas wiped with rubbing alcohol.

      Wet another rag with water, and use the rag to rinse the soapy water out of the dryer. Wipe out the inside of the dryer thoroughly with a dry cloth. Leave the dryer door open and do not use the dryer for several hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not spray the all-purpose cleaner directly into the dryer, as it can damage the dryer or even cause a fire.
