You can keep as many programs open as you have the RAM for, and you can switch between them at will. Then you don't have to wait for the programs to load before using them. These instructions are for Windows 98.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft Windows
  1. Step 1

Open more than one program, either by choosing the programs from the Start menu or by double-clicking the program icons.

  2. Step 2

Turn your attention to the Windows taskbar. Icons for all open windows appear on the taskbar.

  3. Step 3

Click an icon to switch to that window.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can drag the taskbar to the bottom, top or sides of the screen if you prefer.
  • You can also press Alt+Tab to switch between programs, or just click an inactive window.
  • Click another taskbar icon to switch to that window.
  • The icon for the active program looks pressed in.
  • Open programs use system resources. If resources or memory are scarce, close all programs that you don't need to have open.
  • Close all programs before installing software or before turning off your computer.
