How to Make a Cover Page for a Book Report
A cover page is the easiest page of your whole book report, but it sets the tone for your paper. An unprofessional or improperly formatted cover page will turn your professor off before he even begins reading your report and could result in a lower grade. First impressions matter, and the cover sheet for your report is no exception.

Using your word-processing program, type the title of your paper. Hit enter twice and then type your name. Once again, hit enter twice. The next three lines will be single-spaced. The first line will have the course name and section number. The second will have the professor’s name. The last line will have the date the paper is due.

2
Select all of the text you have typed. Choose center alignment for all of the text. The text should also have the same amount of space at the top and the bottom of the page. To accomplish this, place the cursor before the title line and simply hit enter until the text is in the middle of the page.

Check your header settings. In many college and high school classes, especially the social sciences, your teachers and professors want you to use the style guide set by the American Psychological Association. If your teacher wants you to follow APA guidelines, the header should appear on your title page, along with the page number. Your header can be the title of your report or a shortened form if the title is long. The cover page should always be page No. 1. For example, the header on your cover page could say “Symbolism in the Scarlet Letter 1."

Print out your page.

Tips & Warnings
Your professor may give specific instructions regarding the header on the cover page. If no instructions are given, assume that you should use APA formatting, which does require putting the header on the cover page.
